Ayr United remain the frontrunners in the Scottish Championship after maintaining their unbeaten start with a victory over Greenock Morton.

Dipo Akinyemi thundered in a first-half opener before the forward turned provider for strike partner Mark McKenzie, who slotted in a second.

Robbie Muirhead pulled one back for the hosts, but the late close-range header was ultimately a consolation.

The defeat sees Morton drop to sixth, while Ayr hold a one-point lead.
