Ayr United moved top of the Scottish Championship on goal difference after an impressive win over Partick Thistle.

The hosts took the lead through Logan Chalmers' scrappy opener but Lee Hodson bundled in to equalise 90 seconds later.

Darren Brownlie's headed own goal put Ayr in front again before Anton Dowds levelled.

Andy Murdoch then teed up Josh Mullin to strike a fine third and Mark McKenzie made it four on the counter.

Lee Bullen's side and Inverness Caledonian Thistle are both on 21 points, but Ayr's goal difference is better by five.
