Hayden earns Wrexham1-1 draw at Boreham Wood

Aaron Hayden rescued a point for Wrexham with a second-half equaliser at promotion rivals Boreham Wood.

Danny Newton scored the Wood's opener on the half hour with Dennon Lewis providing the assist.

Paul Mullin paved the way for Hayden's calmly converted Wrexham reply soon after the restart.

Wrexham stayed second in the table, but Boreham Wood dropped a place to fourth with Chesterfield taking over in third after beating Bromley 3-2.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson:

"I'm pleased with the performance. It's a difficult place to come - I thought we had a lot to contend with today.

"The performance of the officials in the first half was difficult to deal with, but I think what was important - and we said at half time - was we had to override that and make sure the ref wasn't a talking point at the end and concentrate on what we needed to do in the second period.

"I thought we did that really well. We kept our cool, got the goal and in reality we had enough possession in and around the box to have gone and won the game."
