The conditions made life difficult for both teams

Greenock Morton moved to within a point of the Scottish Championship summit with a battling win at Cove Rangers.

In a match robbed of quality by the elements, the visitors took a first-half lead through Jaze Kabia and caused Cove some nervous moments with the wind at their backs after the break.

Substitute Leighton McIntosh brought brought Cove level, but the Aberdeen side were unable to hang on as Robbie Crawford's blistering late strike grabbed all three points for Dougie Imrie's team.

Cove Rangers manager Jim McIntyre: "I felt we should have taken a point out of it - the first goal is two yards offside. But our target remains survival in this division."

Morton manager Dougie Imrie: "It wasn't a classic but I think we showed tremendous spirit. Although we may have moved to within a point of Ayr, our target remains to finish eighth or higher."
