Aldershot Town 1-1 Chesterfield

  • Published

Promotion-chasing Chesterfield ended a run of four straight defeats by fighting back to draw at mid-table Aldershot.

The Spireites' dismal run had seen them slip off the pace in the National League and they fell behind here as Jake Hutchinson raced on to a long ball and coolly finished in the 20th minute.

But Chesterfield were level seconds after the break, with Paul McCallum marking his debut by scoring on the rebound after his initial effort from Ryheem Sheckleford's cross clattered the bar.

McCallum could have doubled his and Chesterfield's tally, but poked wide after being put clean through.

Tim Akinola then saw a late shot saved by Aldershot goalkeeper Luca Ashby-Hammond as the points were shared.
