Nathan Wood's late penalty secured Penybont's place in the Welsh Cup semi-final for a second successive season.

Penybont avoided a Welsh Cup upset as they came from behind to beat Holywell Town 2-1 to secure a semi-final spot.

Danny Andrews gave the Cymru North visitors a first-half lead.

Lewis Harling's header from Mael Davies' cross brought Penybont level before Holywell's Ilan ap Gareth was sent off.

Penybont were awarded a penalty in stoppage time which Nathan Wood converted and Holywell had substitute Kai Wallis sent off.

On Saturday, Ryan Brobbel scored a hat-trick as holders The New Saints secured their place in the semi-finals but they were made to fight all the way by Cwmbran Celtic.

Brobbel gave Saints a 12th-minute lead but Celtic hit back immediately through Joshua Rippon.

Leo Smith and Brobbel went close before Saints were awarded a penalty, with Brobbel converting.

Brobbel then scored a header from Ben Clark's throw to seal a 3-1 win.

Two goals in the space of three minutes in the second half saw Bala Town end Briton Ferry Llansawel's involvement in the competition.

Captain Chris Venables' acrobatic effort gave Bala the lead before Adam Roscrow's header made it 2-0.

Briton Ferry were reduced to 10 men with 14 minutes remaining after Connor Goldsworthy was shown a red card for a foul on Luke Wall.

Connah's Quay Nomads bounced back after league defeat to Haverfordwest County in midweek with a 5-0 win over Flintshire neighbours Airbus UK Broughton.

Jack Kenny gave the hosts a sixth-minute lead but it was not until the second half that the floodgates opened.

Harry Franklin and captain George Horan extended Nomads' lead with two late Joe Malkin goals sealing the win and a place in Monday evening's semi-final draw.
