  • Published

Ayr United missed the chance to move up to second in the Scottish Championship after succumbing to defeat at home to managerless Partick Thistle.

Danny Mullen's first-half header notched three points for the visitors, who move up to fifth with the victory.

It ends a run of seven away games without a win, in Kris Doolan's first game as caretaker manager following Ian McCall's dismissal.

Ayr now lie five points off leaders Queen's Park, with a game in hand.

Thistle move within a point of the play-offs.
