There was a shortage of penalty box drama in a goalless draw at Cappielow

Partick Thistle nudged up to third place in the Scottish Championship after a feisty goalless draw with Morton at Cappielow.

Referee Alan Muir booked 10 players and home manager Dougie Imrie in a contest full of endeavour but low on thrills.

An early Robbie Muirhead free-kick tested Thistle goalkeeper David Mitchell and Muirhead shot narrowly wide on the hour.

Ross Docherty lifted the visitors' best chance over the crossbar.

The Glasgow side lost centre-half pairing Aaron Muirhead and Connor McAvoy to first-half injuries, with the latter going down the tunnel on crutches, as Kris Doolan extended his unbeaten run as manager to five matches since replacing Ian McCall.

Morton stay fifth in the table, two points behind Thistle.
