Millwall picked up a point from a goalless draw at West Bromwich Albion to consolidate their place in the Championship play-off places.
Baggies midfielder Adam Reach sent two efforts off target in the first half, while Brandon Thomas-Asante fired narrowly wide after the break.
Albion keeper Josh Griffiths then made two fine saves to beat away Tom Bradshaw's near-post header and parry over a stinging drive by Zian Flemming.
Thomas-Asante had a late chance blocked and a Tom Rogic strike was deflected wide for the hosts as Millwall climbed to fifth after Blackburn's defeat at Birmingham to establish a four-point gap on the chasing pack.
Albion remain ninth with a game in hand on most rivals after extending their unbeaten run at The Hawthorns to 11 Championship matches, but they missed the chance to cut the five-point deficit to the play-off places.
The Baggies have only conceded one goal in that home run, which has delivered nine wins and helped catapult them up the table and within sight of the top six.
Millwall found it hard to break down the hosts, who enjoyed more possession, with Charlie Cresswell having their only meaningful effort of the first half as his header was comfortably saved by Griffiths.
The Baggies rarely tested visiting keeper George Long as the Lions recovered from defeat by Huddersfield before the international break to move ahead of Blackburn on goal difference.
Millwall, who have not played in the top flight since 1989-90, host fellow play-off challengers Luton on Friday when Albion travel to 20th-placed Rotherham.
West Bromwich Albion head coach Carlos Corberan told BBC Radio WM:
"I am very pleased with the attitude of the players because they put a lot of effort in.
"The game was more interrupted that what we want but the team was competing in every set-piece, every long ball and every area.
"To achieve one point is an important point.
"Unfortunately the chances we had we couldn't finish better. Maybe the result is a fair result because it was a very competitive game."
Millwall manager Gary Rowett told BBC Radio London:
"It was a really good performance at a difficult place to come.
"West Brom spoke about how it was a massive game because there was a little points gap.
"We did more to win the game than West Brom did, but it was a difficult challenge. Testament to the players, who worked incredibly hard.
"We had plenty of the ball and got into some brilliant positions. A little bit more composure and we probably take one of the chances."
