Boreham Wood 0-1 Dagenham & Redbridge

  • Published

Inih Effiong's first-half goal was enough for Dagenham to return to winning ways with a 1-0 victory against play-off hopefuls Boreham Wood.

The Daggers, still in with a chance of breaking into the top seven despite back-to-back defeats, struck in the 12th minute when Josh Hare's free-kick was headed across goal by David Longe-King and Effiong was there to nod home the loose ball.

Zak Brunt nearly found an equaliser for the Wood but his free-kick went just wide before home keeper Nathan Ashmore was called into action to deny Myles Weston.

The visitors could have doubled their lead just before the break after being awarded a penalty, but Ashmore made a great save to deny Effiong his second of the game.

Boreham had chances to level in the second half with Tyrone Marsh and Dion Kelly-Evans going close and Dagenham keeper Elliot Justham making a good save to deny George Broadbent, but the away side held on for three valuable points.
