Kerr McInroy scored twice for Partick Thistle

Partick Thistle kick-started their Scottish Championship season in style by beating Glasgow rivals and table-toppers Queen's Park.

On-loan Kilmarnock midfielder Kerr McInroy side-footed in Steven Lawless's cut-back to put Thistle in front.

Brian Graham doubled that lead with a lovely first-touch finish from another Lawless pass, but Ruari Paton fired in his seventh of the season to give the leaders hope.

However McInroy lifted the ball neatly over Callan McKenna from Lawless's third assist to net his second of the match and move Thistle up to fifth in the division.

Queen's Park stay two points clear at the summit, but have played a game more than Dundee United and Raith Rovers.

Partick Thistle manager Kris Doolan: "Delighted with how we played on the front foot but also defensively as well. You see now hopefully that we've got the players playing in the way we want and we're still getting young players in there."

Queen's Park manager Robin Veldman: "Disappointed because of a sloppy performance in possession and in creating chances, but also some good things in how we dealt with coming out in the second half and having some good spells."
