Leeds United have signed striker Joel Piroe from Swansea City on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, which is believed to be more than £10m.

Piroe, 24, had been linked with a host of clubs having scored 46 goals in 96 Swansea appearances.

Swansea's Championship rivals Leeds won the race for the former PSV Eindhoven player, who had only a year to run on his contract in south Wales.

Swansea had discussed a new deal with Piroe but he has opted to leave.

Southampton, managed by former Swansea boss Russell Martin, Leicester City and Everton were among the other sides thought to have shown an interest in Piroe, who has thrived during two seasons in English football.

Swansea agreed a deal worth about £1m rising to £2m to sign former Netherlands Under-20s international Piroe in the summer of 2021, with that transfer thought to include a sell-on clause which means PSV will receive a proportion of the fee paid by Leeds.

He reached 20 goals in each of his two full seasons as a Swansea player.

Piroe becomes Leeds' fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Ethan Ampadu, Sam Byram, Karl Darlow and former Swansea defender Joe Rodon.
