Double scorer Owen Moffat netted after 20 seconds as Dunfermline beat Morton 2-1 in the Scottish Championship.

The on-loan Blackpool forward, 21, latched on to a loose ball to strike his first senior goal.

And Moffat scored again from a similar position on the right edge of the box as Morton backed off on seven minutes.

Steven Boyd reduced Morton's deficit from the penalty spot late on after goalkeeper Deniz Mehmet had fouled George Oakley.

Dunfermline move up to fourth while Morton remain bottom of the table, with four more fixtures scheduled for Saturday.

Morton manager Dougie Imrie: "We lose the game in the first half, we can't give teams two goals of a start. We have to get out of this quickly. We've got to keep believing that we can turn it around. I certainly do, I'm a fighter, I'll keep going.

"At the moment, we're getting punished for mistakes. Second half, the boys were brilliant. We kept pushing, we've got to score at the end."

Dunfermline manager James McPake: "We made hard work of that for ourselves. The three defenders were excellent. They held their own and helped the team. The goalkeeper made some big saves.

"We're off the back of three defeats. To sum it up, I'm delighted but we certainly made it eventful come the end."

Dunfermline forward Owen Moffat: "I'm really happy, it was a good start to the game. It was really early on in the game. It fell perfectly to me and I just thought, 'try and pick a corner' and luckily it went in.

"I remember Joe [Chalmers] gave me it on the half-turn. I took the ball, I looked to my right to see if there was anyone there. I just thought, 'have a strike' and it went in. "
