Thistle are five points clear in third

Partick Thistle fended off Greenock Morton with a late Blair Alston winner to consolidate third place in the Scottish Championship.

The hosts got off to a rapid start as Kerr McInroy fired past Jamie MacDonald inside three minutes.

Morton pulled level from the spot as Grant Gillespie stroked home after Kirk Broadfoot was upended in the box.

Brian Graham was shown a second yellow moments after being subbed off, but Alston soon fired Thistle's winner.

Kris Doolan's side stay five points clear in third, while Morton remain bottom.
