Ricco Diack's first senior goal on his first senior start helped Partick Thistle take a valuable three points against Airdrieonians.
The 18 year-old met Aidan Fitzpatrick's early corner to head home for the Jags.
Kris Doolan's side doubled their lead when a dangerous Fitzpatrick's cross hit the knee of defender Callum Fordyce and looped in at the back post.
The Diamonds replied when Craig Watson got on the end of Calum Gallagher's knockdown to poke high into the net.
Thistle remain five points off second-placed Raith Rovers while Airdrie are still a point off Dunfermline, who are fourth.
Partick Thistle manager Kris Doolan: "I'm proud of Ricco, because it's not an easy thing for a young boy to come in, especially in the Championship where there's expectation.
"His overall performance was very good. You see the physicality of him. He's quick, he's powerful, he's got a good touch, he can clearly score goals and, as a striker, that could be the full package."
