Torquay United boss Gary Johnson was pleased with how his young side acquitted themselves in their 4-1 FA Trophy win at Frome Town.

Theo Williams got a 19th-minute opener before Ollie Tomlinson scored soon after as 16-year-old striker Jacob Wellington made his first start.

Williams made it 3-0 after 61 minutes before Will Jenkins Davies completed the win three minutes later.

"I'm really pleased," Johnson told BBC Radio Devon after the victory.

"You have to make decisions and there were a few of our lads that we had to leave at home and do a bit of convalescing.

"Welly's debut, fantastic to get a debut at 16 years of age, and he'll remember that for the rest of his life, and then the two lads that came on played their part.

"Our average age was something like 20 and we thought 'oh my god' and on the bench at the end it was probably even less.

"We had to turn up knowing our pride would be really hurt if we got beat in the game.

"I thought we scored four good goals and a lot of positives came out of it."
