Partick Thistle 1-1 Inverness Caledonian Thistle: Spirited Inverness take point from Firhill
- Published
Spirited Inverness Caledonian Thistle played impressively - and scored after just 20 seconds - as they took a Scottish Championship point at Partick Thistle.
Duncan Ferguson's men made a rapid start as Max Anderson's deflected shot trickled into the bottom corner.
Cameron Harper had a chance to extend that lead before Thistle hit back.
Right-back Jack McMillan popped up in the six-yard box to squeeze the ball under Mark Ridgers.
Inverness appealed for a late penalty when Harper was felled just inside the box, but referee Graham Grainger opted against awarding the spot-kick.
Earlier, Anderson nearly had his and the visitors' second of the afternoon with a strike that whizzed past the foot of the post following a pass by David Wotherspoon, who impressed throughout.
Kris Doolan's side stay third while Inverness remain eighth.
Partick Thistle manager Kris Doolan: "Inverness are a good team and a point is probably fair. It was such a freak goal to give away but the way we react is key. We get on the front foot and Jack McMillan scores a fantastic goal."
Inverness CT manager Duncan Ferguson: "We couldn't have started any better. We created chances and could've had a couple of goals.
"Everyone could see our attacking play which is lovely to watch, and on another day we could've had a penalty - we're not getting any 50-50 decisions at all. But we're really happy."
