Oldham Athletic have been fined £5,000 following crowd trouble during their 1-1 National League draw at Chesterfield in August.

Trouble flared after James Norwood scored a 95th-minute equaliser for the Latics against the Spireites.

The club were sanctioned following a ruling from a Football Association commission in relation to fan conduct.

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of invading the pitch after the match and released on bail.

"The club is involved in ongoing work with Greater Manchester Police and Derbyshire Police regarding matters that arose from the encroachment of supporters on to the pitch," a Latics statement said.

"The club has listened to advice received from the FA in relation to our procedures as a visiting club for fixtures of this nature.

"It is important we use this opportunity to remind supporters that entering the field of play, as well as the use of flares and pyrotechnics, are criminal offences and carry severe consequences."
