Dundee's Scottish Premiership match with Aberdeen has followed Hibernian's visit to Ross County in being postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

The game at Dens Park was called off just 53 minutes before the scheduled 15:00 GMT kick off amid concerns for player safety.

Dundee apologised for any inconvenience to fans, while referee David Munro said: "I arrived this afternoon and when we went out to do our pitch inspection we realised there were concerns for player safety.

"There were several areas where there was standing water, and I've had to postpone the match unfortunately. It was multiple areas giving me concern."

County's pitch failed a 10:00 inspection after heavy rainfall in Dingwall. Hibs said "a new date for the fixture will be announced in due course".

Elsewhere, Cove Rangers' League 1 encounter with Edinburgh City has been pushed back to a 15:30 kick-off to allow snow to be cleared from the pitch.

Hibs and County's next matches will now take place on Wednesday, with the Easter Road side hosting rivals Hearts in the Edinburgh derby as Derek Adams' team go to Rangers.

Dundee are next in action on Tuesday at Dens against Celtic, while Aberdeen host Motherwell on Wednesday.
