Callum Davidson started his Queen's Park reign with victory as Raith Rovers missed the chance to return to the top of the Scottish Championship.

Jack Hamilton glanced a header past Callum Ferrie for Raith's early opener.

But Queen's Park responded as Tommy Robson split the home defence and teenager Cameron Bruce curled home.

And, 10 minutes into the second half, Davidson's side led. Dom Thomas swung in a corner and debutant Sean Welsh headed past Andy McNeil.

Queen's Park move out of the bottom two, sitting above Ayr United on goal difference and two points clear of Arbroath.

Rovers remain level on points with Dundee United but the Tangerines have a better goal difference and a game in hand.

Raith Rovers manager Ian Murray: "Disappointing scoreline. I don't think our performance merited to lose the game. We tried everything to try and get that equalising goal and then go on to win the game but it wasn't to be. We dust ourselves down, we take it on the chin. We've got to be disappointed with the goals we've conceded."

Queen's Park manager Callum Davidson: "Really pleased with the character. They reacted really well, the heads could've gone down. We got back into the game with a fantastic goal by Cammy. Delighted for him. Sean was a real calming influence. It's a great start and it's just three points for us. I'll hopefully try and get a couple more players in."
