Championship promotion-chasers Ipswich are in talks with Sheffield Wednesday over signing wing-back Marvin Johnson.

The 33-year-old has returned to the fold under Owls boss Danny Rohl - after not even being registered to play under predecessor Xisco Munoz.

The former Middlesbrough player signed an extension to his contract after helping Wednesday win promotion to the Championship last season.

There is no agreement on a deal yet and it is known Wednesday would want a fee.

Johnson has scored three goals in 13 appearances for the Owls since Rohl brought him back into the side in November.

However, while Johnson appreciates and likes Rohl and would be sad to leave Hillsborough, he is also keen to further his career and realises a move to Ipswich could give him a chance of achieving his ambition to play in the Premier League.

Ipswich are second in the Championship, three points ahead of Southampton, while Wednesday are in the relegation zone and four points from safety.
