Zampa Road has been renamed John Berylson Way, after the club's former owner who died last year

Former Millwall owner John Berylson has been remembered with a road in his name leading to the club's stadium.

The American died in a car crash in the USA in July aged 70, having been involved with the club since 2006.

Zampa Road, which leads up to The Den's main entrance, will now be named John Berylson Way.

The new road sign will be unveiled at the Lions' home Championship match again Preston on Saturday by current chairman, Berylson's son James.

"On behalf of my family, I would like to thank everybody who has contributed to the change of road name," James Berylson said.

"My dad absolutely adored Millwall, the fans, his staff, and all those associated with the club, and to have his name on road signs outside The Den, and in the address, is very moving for my family and I. It is something he would have been immeasurably proud of."

John Berylson became a significant shareholder of the club in 2007 after he led a consortium who invested in the then League One side.

He replaced Stewart Till as chairman in the same year and went on to oversee two promotions into the Championship.

The last promotion came in 2017 and the club have maintained their position in the second tier ever since.
