Walsall have signed midfielder Jamie Jellis for an undisclosed fee from non-league side Tamworth.

The 23-year-old, who has scored four goals this season for the National League North leaders, joins the Saddlers on an 18-month deal.

Jellis previously had a spell with Stevenage as a teenager but never made a first-team appearance for the club.

"This is what I have been working towards since I got released from my last pro contract," he said.

"I work hard, I like to get around the pitch and in the last few months I've started to chip in with a few more goals and assists so I'm hoping I can bring all that to the team."

Walsall head coach Mat Sadler said the midfielder "fits into the type of player we want here to grow and improve."
