Shankland's goals have established Hearts in third place in the Scottish Premiership

Heart of Midlothian have made a second offer to Scotland striker Lawrence Shankland in an attempt to ensure his long-term future at Tynecastle.

An improved offer of a significant increase in wages and an additional two years on his deal has been tabled, with a deadline of Wednesday night.

There has been speculation of a move for the 28-year-old despite him still having 18 months left on his deal.

Hearts have consistently said they have received no interest from other clubs.

The winter transfer window closes in Scotland on Thursday at 23:30 GMT.

The former Dundee United forward has scored 19 goals for Hearts this season and 46 times in 75 games overall since joining from Beerschot in July 2022.
