West Bromwich Albion have signed winger Mikey Johnston on loan from Scottish Premiership giants Celtic.

The 24-year-old Glasgow-born Republic of Ireland international's deadline day move makes him boss Carlos Corberan's third January window loan deal.

He follows the signings of strikers Andi Weimann from Bristol City and Callum Marshall from West Ham United.

"I want to hit the ground running and make an impact right away," said Johnston.

"I think the deal has been rumbling on since the start of the window, so I'm just happy to get it over the line.

"Right from the start, the gaffer Carlos Corberan was on to me to get me in. He was telling me all about the way he likes to play and bits about the club.

"I was really keen as soon as I spoke to him. He's impressive. You know exactly what he needs from you and it's exactly the type of manager I like to work under."

Corberan has been keen to bring in a wide player during the current transfer window, following the loss of Brighton loan man Jeremy Sarmiento to Ipswich Town.

Johnston has been looking for increased playing time after spending last season on loan at Vitoria SC in Portugal.

He has made nine appearances in the Scottish Premiership this season, but started only three times, scoring his only two goals in the 3-0 Boxing Day win at Dundee.
