Falmouth Town had won seven games to get to the quarter-finals of the FA Vase

Falmouth Town manager Andy Westgarth says he is disappointed with how his side played as they were knocked out of the FA Vase at the quarter final stage.

Falmouth were beaten 2-0 at Essex side Great Wakering Rovers as their dreams of playing at Wembley came to an end.

"I think we got what we deserved really, which was nothing," he said.

"We've had some incredible highs and some great games, but unfortunately today nothing went right for us and we weren't good enough."

Harry Talbot's two goals in the second half - the second from the penalty spot - ensured Falmouth's 700-mile round-trip to the Essex Senior League side are based near Southend ended in defeat.

"We just huffed and puffed and we tried to change things, naturally as a manager I'll reflect on it and think 'did I get it it wrong?'," he told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"I set the team up, could I have done better? The lads will reflect on it and think could they have done better, and collectively I think we could all agree that we could have."

The game was Western Premier League side Falmouth's seventh in the competition, having beaten Jersey Bulls in the last round after chartering a plane to get the players and the club's dedicated fans to the Channel Island.

"As disappointed as I am we can be proud of how far we've got, but it's just disappointing," added Westgarth.

"What's worse, playing brilliantly and then them nicking it in the last minute, is that better or not turning up?

"On reflection I think we can be immensely proud of what we've achieved, but I think our overriding feeling once the dust settles and once we're on the bus or in a couple of weeks time will be 'do you know what, we didn't really give an account of ourselves'."
