Brian Graham continued his fine season for the visitors as he netted his 22nd goal of the season in the first period with a powerful strike.
Matty Todd a the post as Dunfermline chased an equaliser to boost their play-off hopes.
And St Johnstone loanee Kane stepped up after being upended in the box.
Thistle have a five point cushion over Airdrie in fourth, with Dunfermline three points behind the latter.
