The National League South game between Weymouth and Yeovil Town has been abandoned after a medical emergency in the crowd.

The game was halted after 75 minutes with Weymouth leading 1-0 thanks to Dan Roberts' 32nd-minute goal.

Both sides were taken off the field as an air ambulance landed on the pitch at Weymouth to assist the patient.

Yeovil needed a win to seal the title and secure a return to the National League after relegation last season.

"The person is now on their way to hospital, but because of the length of time involved the referee deemed that the game needed to be abandoned at that point," Weymouth chairman Paul Maitland said in a video on X., external

"The club has already been in contact with the National League to understand what happens next.

"It's not as situation we are used to, at the moment the game has been abandoned, whether the game has to be replayed or the result stands will be deemed by the National League board

"I'm guessing because of the point of the season we are that decision will be made quite promptly.

"As a club I would like to offer our best wishes to the person who fell ill at today's game and wish them a speedy recovery," he added.
