Stuart Kettlewell remains focused on Motherwell's league performances despite investment negotiations

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell believes dramatic change at the club is unlikely despite talks over investment from the United States stepping up.

The Fir Park side confirmed this week that a US-based family had reached a "non-binding" agreement on investing in the fan-owned club.

The Well Society has a 71 per cent stake in Motherwell - and its board said members would have final approval.

"My understanding is that it's just a small step," Kettlewell said.

"With all these things, they can be a longer process, so that doesn't necessarily change anything in my mindset and my remit.

"The budget over the summer is going to look pretty much exactly how it does just now unless someone tells me different, which certainly doesn't seem to be on the horizon.

"I don't think anybody should be massively reading into it that there will be wholesale changes in the coming days or weeks"

The immediate priority for Kettlewell is achieving the unlikely goal of reaching the top six.

Motherwell are currently eighth, six points behind sixth-placed Dundee with two games left before the split.

With those matches being against Dundee and Hibs - who sit sandwiched between them in seventh - Kettlewell remains positive about his side's chances, even if they are relying on help from elsewhere.

"We need a favour or two and one or two aspects to go our way," he admitted. "But we can only concentrate in this game on Saturday and it's going to be a tough one."
