Head coach Stuart Maynard has apologised to Notts County supporters for Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Salford, saying the Magpies' performance "wasn't good enough".

The defeat was their fourth in a five-game winless run in all competitions and dropped them to 11th in the table.

"Our decision-making in all areas of the pitch all afternoon was poor," Maynard told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"As a collective it wasn't a good enough. I apologise to the fans who have travelled and spent their hard-earned money to come and support us."

Salford were gifted an early lead after a calamitous error from visiting keeper Alex Bass set Conor McAleny up for the opener.

Cole Stockton then went on to score either side of the break to complete the convincing win.

"They were better than us in every department - their quality was better, their decision-making was better," Maynard added.

"I said earlier in the season that we will go though a difficult patch and we are going through that sticky period at the minute."

While Maynard was damning of the performance, he remains confident Notts are capable of bouncing back.

Unity, he says, will be crucial as they endeavour to turn their fortunes around.

"In tough times, you have to stick together," Maynard said. "It's easy to point blame at people but we are all in it together.

"We have to stick together, go again and come back fighting - which I know this group will.

"I know what we have got in there, they are a group that cares and they are hurting."

Notts County return home to Meadow Lane for their next game on Saturday against a Bradford side they are equal on points with after 19 games.
