Port Vale have signed goalkeeper Ben Amos on a two-year contract and paid an undisclosed fee for Colchester defender Connor Hall.

Amos, 34, joins having spent three years with Wigan Athletic, keeping 26 clean sheets in his 83 appearances for the club.

Hall, 31, made 52 appearances in a previous spell at Vale Park and has also signed a two-year deal.

The pair are the sixth and seventh signings for the Valiants after they were relegated to League Two last season.

"We made the decision to bring in a goalkeeper that possesses the quality of Ben in order to enhance the competition for the number one spot," manager Darren Moore told the club website.

"Connor brings with him a wealth of experience and a style of play that our supporters will already be familiar with.

“First and foremost, Connor is a leader, as proven after being named as Colchester United’s captain last season, who will bring great balance to our back line.

"He is comfortable with the ball at his feet, loves to defend and is a real threat in both boxes.
