Morecambe sign Liverpool defender Williams

Rhys Williams has made 19 appearances for Liverpool but has not featured in a competitive game for them since May 2021

Morecambe have signed Liverpool defender Rhys Williams on loan until January.

The 23-year-old former England Under-21 international has made nine Premier League appearances for the Reds.

He had loans with Aberdeen and Port Vale last season but only featured once for the former and did not play at all for the latter because of injury.

"I'm delighted, the manager has given me a chance to come and play football here and that's the main thing," Williams told the club website.

He is the 18th player to join the League Two club this summer.

Derek Adams' side have lost their first two league games and travel to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.
