Aldershot manager Widdrington 'stable' in hospital

Aldershot Town manager Tommy Widdrington is undergoing tests in hospital after being taken ill.
The National League club has not specified the nature of the 53-year-old's illness but said assistant managers Hugo Langton and Richard Dryden will lead the side during his absence.
"Tommy is stable and in good spirits, and we shall provide updates when there is anything further to share," a club statement said., external
"In the meantime, we ask that Tommy and his family's privacy is respected at this time.
"Everybody at the club sends their best wishes to Tommy for a speedy recovery."
Former Southampton, Grimsby Town and Port Vale midfielder Widdrington took over as Shots boss in April 2023.
They ended his first full season in charge eighth in the National League last term, missing out on the play-offs by just two points.
This season they sit 17th after 20 games.
