Moore hails character as Port Vale stop the rot

Port Vale are League Two's lowest scorers with 11 goals in 16 matches

Port Vale boss Darren Moore praised his side's resilience as they stopped a run of three straight League One defeats with a goalless draw against in-form Wycombe Wanderers.
Vale had shipped eight goals without reply in that run, including a 4-0 defeat at Bolton, and hosted a Wycombe side on Saturday unbeaten in five in the league.
The visitors struck the woodwork twice, but Moore saw positive signs in the draw which lifted Vale up a place into 22nd and within three points of safety.
"Credit to the players for the resilience shown today, the determination, the commitment to the shape and system," he told BBC Radio Stoke.
"We went about our business in a manner that was pleasing to see, that we've probably not seen from Vale for a couple of weeks. I thought every single one of them stuck to the game plan."
Having started with an attacking line up, Moore was forced into changes after defenders Marvin Johnson and Kyle John were both forced off with knocks.
"We had to change the shape, from a three to a two up top, so there was lots of changes on the pitch that we had to do in order to try and pull a result out," he added.
"We pulled the result out against all that, so I'm really pleased with the group for the way they committed to the game, even faced with adversity against a good team, they still stuck to the task."

Saturday's goalless draw made it four successive league games without finding the net, and just one goal in their last six in League One.
But the Vale boss said that extra work put into creating chances in training almost paid immediate dividends and was confident the drought would soon end.
"We've come off the pitch there having chances again, but you have to give the keeper credit," he said.
"He's (Wycombe goalkeeper Will Norris) pulled off two wonderful saves today, we've missed the target with a couple of efforts, but as I said, they're in there to create them.
"The hardest thing is creating them, scoring them will come. It will change."
