Swansea City have completed the signing of midfielder Goncalo Franco from Moreirense for an undisclosed fee.
The former Portugal Under-20 international, 23, becomes Luke Williams' first capture of the summer transfer window.
Franco has signed a four-year deal with the Championship club.
"We want to have a team with energy and intensity. That is really important and, from what we have seen, Gonçalo has that in abundance," said Swans boss Williams.
"We have seen the quality he has as well, he has shown some incredible actions to create goals and score goals."
Franco, who played 33 games in Portugal’s Liga last season, began his senior career at Leixoes before switching in 2020 to Moreirense, where he has made more than 100 senior appearances.
Williams added: "He is aggressive, he is not frightened to tackle and compete for the ball. He is an attacking player who has defensive instincts.
"When I spoke to him, I got the feeling that as a club - with the values we have - we are going to be able to relate to him, and he to us.
"No-one should underestimate the importance of that and we are excited to get him out on the training pitch and give him the chance to build relationships with his team-mates."
Swansea are also closing in on the permanent signing of South Korean forward Eom Ji-Sung.
The Swans have agreed a deal with South Korean side Gwangju FC for Eom, 22, who has travelled to the United Kingdom to undergo a medical with the club.
Eom, who has one senior South Korea cap, is regarded by Williams as a left-winger or central attacking midfielder.
Gwangju announced last week that Eom, who has four seasons of senior football under his belt, would be moving to Swansea.
