Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan has signed a new contract with the troubled Championship club.
The 35-year-old said he had turned down "interest from elsewhere" to continue his stay at Hillsborough, despite the EFL this week expressing doubts over whether the club would be able to fulfil its fixtures this season.
Bannan has been at Wednesday for 10 seasons and remains a key player, but he has seen team-mates leave the club this summer after multiple late payments of wages.
Wednesday, who have also missed payments to HMRC and face rising debts, currently have just 15 first-team squad members, while departed manager Danny Rohl has been replaced by Henrik Pedersen.

Bannan, who has made 447 appearances for the club, had been out of contract before signing the deal.
He told the club website, external: "I'm delighted to get it done and I can look forward again.
"I've made it clear over the years my love for the club and the love I receive back.
"This club is a big part of me and my family. With the season getting closer, this last week has been tough because there was interest from elsewhere and I had a lot to think about."
The Owls are due to kick-off their new Championship season against Leicester City on Sunday, 10 August.
