Ipswich Town full-back Ashley Young is keen to prove he can defy age and contribute whenever called upon by head coach Kieran McKenna this season.
Young arrived at Portman Road this summer on a free transfer after leaving Everton, having worked with McKenna when he was a coach at Manchester United.
And he insists he is ready to play whenever he is needed this season, despite people doubting him because he is 40 years old.
"People have questioned whether I can keep on going," Young told BBC Radio Suffolk.
"I look back to last season, playing 32 games in the Premier League. I can do as many games as the manager wants, it is game by game.
"I'm here to help the team, on and off the pitch. Whenever the manager calls upon me, I'll give 100%. Hopefully I can be involved as much as possible."
Young says he has adapted well to life at Ipswich and believes a first win of the season is coming following Saturday's draw with Derby County, even though new signings Marcelino Nunez, Sindre Walle Egeli, Darnell Furlong and Ivan Azon will take time to adjust.
"It doesn't take long to integrate into this squad," added Young.
"You are welcomed by the players and staff with open arms, that is exactly how I felt. Two days in, I felt like I'd been here 10 years.
"I've been been saying, the win is coming. You can tell, the way we have been playing, especially in that first half (against Derby). If we'd got that second goal (and led 2-0), it would have been a different game. The feeling is there."
