Jardim sets Newport challenge to Bony after Hudlin blow

Geoffroy Bony has made four appearances for Newport since signing in November, but is yet to score a first EFL goal

Nelson Jardim says Newport County's latest injury blow is a chance for forward hopefuls to seize their chance – including the son of a former Premier League star.
Exiles boss Jardim is facing up to being without frontman Kyle Hudlin for the majority of the campaign after the 24-year-old's recent calf injury.
It leaves the League Two side with Courtney Baker-Richardson as the only out-and-out centre-forward available ahead of Saturday's visit of Cheltenham Town.
But Jardim says it is an opportunity for others to make the most of the opening, including 20-year-old Geoffroy Bony, son of former Swansea City and Manchester City striker Wilfried.
Bony senior scored 35 goals in 115 Premier League appearances, with his son having been given his English Football League (EFL) break by County earlier in the season.
Now, with Hudlin's absence opening the door, Jardim said: "To lose Kyle is disappointing but it is an opportunity for others.
"(Winger, David) Ajiboye has played there, Bobby Kamwa has played there – and we've got Geoff Bony who did very well when he came on (against Bradford) last week.
"He is only just 20 so he is very young and hasn't finished his process of development yet, but this is the moment they have to seize and grab and make the most of the opportunities they have."

Former Swansea academy prospect Bony has made two starts for Jardim's side since being picked up, coming off the bench against Bradford as Newport made it six games unbeaten.
He has tended to play wide, with former Crewe man Baker-Richardson and Hudlin having alternated the central role.
Hudlin, who is County's top scorer with six goals this season, was this week ruled out for up to eight weeks after sustaining a calf injury after scoring in the home win over Carlisle.
"It's a pity to lose Kyle because he's also a good leader - but we have to move forward," said Jardim.
"Hopefully he will be back just before the season finishes but we have different options, we can do different things; it's down to us to be competitive and find solutions."
Newport have Kai Whitmore back in training ahead of the visit of Cheltenham, managed by former Newport boss and local boy Mike Flynn.
Newport could move into the top-half of the League Two table for the first time since October with a win.
