Cardiff City are hopeful of adding to their squad this week as they step up preparations for the new Championship season.

Though they have given new deals to a clutch of youngsters, Cardiff are yet to make a senior signing this summer.

But manager Erol Bulut is hopeful of landing “two or three players” in the next few days.

Cardiff begin their pre-season schedule on Wednesday night with a friendly against Kidderminster Harriers.

They are hoping to have a least one recruit on board by then, with a winger among the transfer priorities.

More new faces should follow, with the Bluebirds keen to strengthen before their training camp in Austria later this month.

"We are negotiating with a few players I hope we can get it done," Bulut told the club website.

“With two or three players we will not be finished. So we have to act.

“Where we had issues last season, we have analysed those positions and so we have to get players in. The board and the recruitment [team] are working hard.”

Chairman Mehmet Dalman was in the Welsh capital at the end of last week. Part of his schedule was a meeting with Cardiff's recruitment staff to discuss progress in the market.

He also met with Bulut and his management team along with players.

Dalman had a get-together with some of the more senior members of Cardiff's squad, underlining their responsibilities and the roles they are expected to play in the season ahead.

Cardiff begin the new Championship season with a home game against Sunderland on 10 August.
