Swansea City are among a host of clubs interested in signing free agent striker Tyrese Campbell.

Campbell was released by Stoke City at the end of last season having scored 36 goals in 164 appearances for the Potters.

The 24-year-old is believed to be attracting interest from a number of Championship sides, while he has also been linked with Scottish giants Rangers.

But BBC Sport Wales understands Swansea head coach Luke Williams has spoken to the former Manchester City youngster about a potential move to Wales.

Williams is hoping to persuade Campbell to join Swansea even though he is almost certain to receive more lucrative offers elsewhere.

The signing of Campbell, a close friend of Swansea’s former Stoke left-back Josh Tymon, would be regarded as a major coup after what has so far been a slow transfer window for the Swans.

But it remains to be seen whether they can win the race for Campbell’s signature.

Slovenia striker Zan Vipotnik joined Swansea on a free transfer on Thursday.

He became their fourth addition of the summer, following goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux, midfielder Gonçalo Franco and forward Eom Ji-Sung.

Swansea have offloaded 12 senior players since finishing the last Championship campaign in 14th.
