West Bromwich Albion right-back Darnell Furlong is set to join Ipswich Town in a deal worth £4m.

Furlong, 29, has spent the past six years at the Black Country club and started every Championship game this season for the unbeaten Baggies.

The long-throw specialist is Albion's longest-serving player after the retirement of Kyle Bartley.

BBC WM report Ipswich are poised to complete the deal and strengthen a defence already bolstered by the arrival of veteran Ashley Young from Everton on a free transfer in the summer.

Furlong will add to a lengthy list of ex-West Brom players at Portman Road with Alex Palmer, Conor Townsend, Cedric Kipre, Dara O'Shea and David Button also having spent time at The Hawthorns.

Although West Brom have some cover in the versatile Krystian Bielik from Birmingham City while midfielder Isaac Price, who filled in when Furlong was suspended last season, they are expected to go into the market for a replacement.

Meanwhile, a deal for Bournemouth's Chris Mepham is looking likely with the Wales international set to fill the gap in the centre of defence left by the sale of Thorbjorn Heggem to Bologna.
