Truro City manager John Askey says he is frustrated by his side's lack of attacking cutting edge.

The Tinners were beaten 1-0 at home by Altrincham with Keaton Ward's excellent late volley sealing the win for the visitors.

The loss saw Truro slip to the bottom of the National League table - Askey's side are a point adrift of four teams who are in turn six points behind 19th-placed Gateshead.

"It's frustrating when you're watching and there is opportunity to put the ball in the box and they turn it down," Askey told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"The idea is to score goals and you aren't going to score goals by going backwards and sideways all the time.

"It's something that we've spoken about. We've played well up until last couple of games really and today wasn't good enough and we've got to get back to what we were doing earlier."

The only positive for Truro was the return of striker Tyler Harvey from injury.

City's talisman had been out since the end of September but came on with 11 minutes to go.

"The supporters deserve more. We are trying, the players are trying," Askey added.

"But we've got to get ourselves out of this and give them something to really get behind us with and make them go home happy."
