Guernsey FC made it through to the second qualifying round of the FA Vase after a 2-0 win over Croydon at Victoria Park.
In a goalless opening period, Ross Allen had a headed goal in stoppage time ruled out for offside on Brandon Wallace who had put in the cross, with Sam Murray having gone close a few minutes earlier.
Charlton Gauvain gave the islanders a 54th-minute lead from close range and Croydon had captain Kieran Rufus sent off for his reaction in the aftermath.
Fin Du Port made the game safe with seven minutes left as his cross ended up curling in off the far post.
The tie was Guernsey FC's first in the FA Vase since they reached the semi-finals in 2013 - their relegation last season meant the Southern Combination side were eligible for the competition once again.
"I'm just pleased that we won, we deserved to win, I think everyone knows that so it was just a question of getting over the line and getting the win," Guernsey manager Tony Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.
"They made it hard with their antics and what we had to deal with, and it was hard for the players to build some momentum because they just kept breaking it up - some might have been hurt when they went down and others probably not.
"I thought the team did really well, kept pushing and playing, kept probing, kept putting jabs on them and the only thing that was missing was the end product, the final jigsaw piece that you need and it wasn't quite there.
"But our approach play was good it was just a question of getting that goal."
