Whitmore becomes Newport's fourth summer recruit

Newport County have continued the summer overhaul of their squad with the signing of Kai Whitmore from Haverfordwest County.
Midfielder Whitmore is the fourth recruit of the week for the currently managerless League Two club.
The 23-year-old joined Haverforwest from fellow Cymru Premier side Penybont in May 2023, scoring four goals.
His 32 apperances for the west Wales club - managed by former County goalkeeper Tony Pennock - included Uefa Europa Conference League qualifiers against FC Shkendija and B36 Torshavn.
“I’m really excited to get started," said Whitmore.
“I enjoyed the challenge in the Cymru Premier and I think the experience of playing in Europe, in big stadiums, will help me make the step up.”
Newport, who parted company with manager Graham Coughlan earlier this month, have already signed former Swansea defender Joe Thomas, ex-Sheffield Wednesday centre-back Ciaran Brennan, and left-back Anthony Glennon.
