Brackley Town boss Gavin Cowan has called on his side for a "monstrous effort" against Notts County after earning the right to face the League Two club in the first round of the FA Cup.

The Saints beat fellow National League side Woking 6-2 in a replay after Saturday's game ended 1-1.

Matt Lowe and Danny Waldron both scored twice, while Woking were reduced to 10 men when Josh Osude was sent off for a foul on Ryan Haynes in the first half.

Goals have been a problem for Brackley this season, with their total of 10 in 13 games the lowest in the National League following last season's promotion.

"It's nice to see us being clinical and getting the win to go into the next round," Cowan told BBC Radio Oxford.

"It's going to be a tough test and we are experiencing a lot of tough tests this season, coming into a new league, still adapting, but doing it really well I feel."

Brackley have reached the second round four times in previous years, including last season when they eventually lost 3-1 to Stockport County, and will have home advantage against Notts County.

They fell behind in Tuesday's replay before Lowe and Waldron put them in front, only for Woking to level in first half added time despite Osude's red card.

Cowan's side struck twice in three minutes through Lowe and Waldron, after the hour mark and further goals by Scott Pollock and Kyle Morrison sealed the win.

"Being clinical is something we've been really conscious of, and wanting to work at, so I just hope that's the catalyst now for us to go and score even more goals," Cowan said.

"We'll have to look at Notts County and what they're all about. It's going to have to be a monstrous effort, but this is the FA Cup, so why not?"

Brackley announced the signing of Shrewsbury Town striker Callum Stewart, on loan until January, before the game.

"In the league we were in last year, he was pretty prolific in that and got himself a good move to a league club. They want him to develop and we feel he can help us and chip in with some goals," Cowan added.

"We've already got some great strikers but it gives us really good options."
