Reading have signed former Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City midfielder Tom Carroll on a short-term deal until the end of the current season.

The 32-year-old has been capped for England at Under-21 level and was most recently with MK Dons before becoming a free agent in February 2025.

"We're delighted to bring in a player of Tom's experience into the building," manager Noel Hunt said.

"He bolsters our options in the final stages of the season and is someone who has played a huge number of games across the EFL and Premier League.

"As a person he is just the kind of character we are looking to recruit into our squad."

The Royals currently sit three points off the top six in League One with 13 fixtures remaining and host Exeter City on Tuesday night (20:00 GMT).
