Truro City forward Ben Starkie could miss much of the season after suffering a serious hamstring injury.

The 23-year-old Tanzania international was forced off just three minutes after coming on as a late substitute in Tuesday's 1-0 loss at Brackley Town.

The former Leicester City youngster - who joined in the summer after a successful trial - is undergoing a scan to assess the severity of the injury.

"It looks as though he's going to be out for quite a while," Tinners manager John Askey told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"It's disappointing, especially with a young lad who's just coming to the team, who I thought had done well In the previous game.

"So we just wish him well and hopefully he gets back quicker than than than we hope.

"It could be up to six months if not longer."

The injury is a further blow to a Truro City side already hit by injuries up front.

Strikers Rekeil Pyke and Tyler Harvey are still nursing problems as Askey's side struggle to score goals - they have failed to find the net in eight of their 11 National League games this season.
