Watford midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been handed a three-match ban by the Football Association for violent misconduct.

Sissoko's charge relates to an incident in the 21st minute of Watford's 1-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday 26 October.

According to an FA Spokesperson, the incident was not seen by referee Darren England during the match and so could not be included directly in his match report afterwards.

However, after studying the alleged incident which was caught on video, the former France international was deemed to have been found guilty of an alleged head-butt on Rovers captain Lewis Travis, who alerted the referee at the time.

The 35-year-old has been sent off three times in his career, including twice for Newcastle United during the 2014-15 season.

The suspension means Sissoko will now miss Watford's trip to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, as well as their fixture at Swansea City on Tuesday and their home match against Oxford United next Friday.
