Portsmouth boss John Mousinho is eyeing "a couple" more additions to his squad before Monday's transfer deadline.

But the Pompey head coach said he does not expect anything to be done before Saturday's home game with Preston North End.

Mousinho added they were trying to find new clubs for midfielder Abdoulaye Kamara and defender Tom McIntyre.

"We are still looking to make a couple of additions," Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent.

"But there will not be anything before the weekend, so we'll be going with the same squad that we took to West Brom plus Josh Knight.

"Monday (deadline day) could be quite busy but it depends how much gets done over the next couple of days, deadline days tend to be busy anyway and we'll keep an eye out to see what'd going on."

This summer's transfer deadline is at19:00 BST on Monday.

Experienced midfielder Matt Ritchie left the club on Thursday to join League One side Reading.

The ex-Newcastle and Bournemouth player was mentioned alongside McIntyre and Kamara as players Mousinho wanted to move on before Monday.

McIntyre joined Portsmouth from Reading in January 2024 while Kamara arrived from Borussia Dortmund last summer and has only made six first team appearances.

"We are still working hard of a couple of departures," Mousinho added.

"I think we'll hopefully manage to get those done for the sake of the players as well, we're looking at Abdou (Kamara) and we're going to try and find something for Tom McIntryre as well.

"We're making progress on a few of those fronts so we are pretty hopeful."

Saturday's 'difficult' game against Preston

Pompey welcome Preston North End to Fratton Park for their second home match of the season this weekend.

The Lilywhites have had a strong start to their Championship campaign, drawing on the opening day and winning their following two matches.

After an opening day win at Oxford, Portsmouth lost at home to Norwich before earning a point at West Brom last weekend.

"They (Preston) have had a really good start to the season," Mousinho said.

"We know they are going to going to be a very difficult side to play against as they are incredibly well organised.

"We have a real opportunity coming back to Fratton Park, that's a real positive for us and we have to make sure we do everything properly and correct.

"If we put a good performance in and can win then it would put us into a really good position going into the break."
