Southampton striker Adam Armstrong has completed his loan move to Championship side West Bromwich Albion more than 14 hours after the transfer window closed.

It is understood that relevant paperwork to make the transfer happen had been received by league authorities before the 23:00 GMT deadline on Monday night, and after being reviewed it was approved.

Armstrong has scored three goals in 23 appearances for Saints this season after helping them to promotion to the Premier League last season.

He was instrumental in returning Southampton to the top-flight, scoring 24 goals and providing 13 assists in 52 appearances last term - including the promotion-clinching winner against Leeds United in the Championship play-off final at Wembley in May 2024.

His move to West Brom sees Armstrong reunited with boss Tony Mowbray, who he previously played for at Coventry City and Blackburn Rovers.

"Adam is an ideal fit for our squad and very much suits our established style," West Brom sporting director Andrew Nestor told the club website., external

"He has extensive experience in the Championship and a proven goalscoring record."
